“I was drawn by the cause of helping out the community. Especially the year I came on, PbP had partnered with Pacific Asian Counseling Services (PACS) for the theme of mental health, and I myself want to go towards a profession in helping out others in regards of utilizing services to improve mental health.”

“During undergrad at UCI, I was fairly involved in community service in various capacities and after graduating I missed that aspect entering into the workforce. After i transitioned to my current job I had more time and I did some research on community services options as well as organizations I can join but the time commitment did not match with my schedule so I started volunteering the LA Regional Food Bank one to two times a month. Through an event and friend, I met an SC member of PbP who talked highly about the organization and the people. He suggested I check out the website because he thought it would align with my interests. After some research and asking Patrick tons of questions I decided to join PbP.”

“Joining PbP has opened my eyes to the AAPI Community in the Greater LA area. I’ve gotten exposure to many non-profit organizations and also have learned the importance of teamwork in an all-volunteer organization to plan a tasting benefit. In my first year with the Volunteer Management team, I have been able to gain leadership experience by facilitating team development exercises for the steering committee and also planning adventurous, high adventure social events to foster the morale of the committee.”

“After being involved with several community service projects in high school, my passion for volunteerism grew having the desire to make our world a better place for all. Once graduating from college, a personal goal was to be a part of an organization where not only would be focused on volunteering but also taking on a leadership role to improve my interpersonal skills. In my first year as a steering committee member, Project by Project provided an opportunity for me to get out of my comfort zone through taking initiative in situations where I originally would feel unsure of myself and also making a social impact to a community marginalized with stereotypes.”
