The Annual Campaign

Through a competitive application process, a local community-based non-profit organization that specializes on issues within the current annual theme is selected to participate in a year-long campaign to receive aid in its fundraising, community outreach, and public awareness efforts. The year-long campaigns include the planning of Project by Project’s signature fundraising event, Plate by Plate , our annual tasting benefit featuring top restaurants and beverage purveyors in LA, NY, and SF attracting thousands of like-minded philanthropic attendees nationwide.

Project by Project aims to solve issues by providing solutions, engagement, and education to the AAPI community. With Asian Americans & Immigration as Project by Project’s Campaign Partner theme for 2018, our objective is to raise awareness regarding anti-immigration propaganda and major policy changes sweeping our country. Learn about what the data tells us about Asian Americans and Immigration.

The Impact

Since 1998, PbP has awarded over $800,000 in grants to our Asian American nonprofit beneficiary partners, enhancing sustainability in serving the needs of their communities. These 35 nonprofit partners located in LA, NY, and SF, through PbP’s support, have gained enhanced enhanced human capital and financial capacity to address challenges spanning human trafficking, health care, domestic violence, affordable housing, education, civic engagement, media/arts representation, and economic empowerment.

2018 Los Angeles Directors

Project by Project Los Angeles is excited to announce its 2018 Leadership Team:
Building upon a vision of empowering our community and a mission of developing leaders through innovative philanthropy, PbP created a platform by which our members exercise leadership skills through direct work and engagement with our nonprofit partner organizations. For 20 years and counting, PbP has strengthened the leadership skills of Asian Americans and continues to develop a pipeline for young leaders to serve on boards and take greater leadership responsibility in all aspects of our community.

The Launch of CASES

In 2018 we are launching our new Project by Project program CASES (Collaborations Accelerating Sustainable Engagement and Solutions). CASES is a cross-functional, skills-based volunteering initiative similar to pro-bono consulting, that brings together exceptional PbP volunteers with multidisciplinary skill sets to serve on project teams dedicated to specific capacity-building projects. The teams are paired with our nonprofit partners to conduct research and evaluation of the community’s most pressing challenges, and over the course of a highly collaborative 3 month engagement term, develop and deliver tangible recommendations that would allow clients to improve and grow their organizations.

These opportunities will include a Nonprofit Training Curriculum to provide members exposure to the social sector and best practices in nonprofit management, as well as a Nonprofit Speaker Series bringing in industry experts and leaders to share insights on how to effect change in the community. Volunteers will apply the knowledge obtained from these experiences to their steering committee and project team duties, enhancing their leadership competencies that would prepare them for future board leadership roles in the AAPI community.
