Project by Project NY (PbP NY) selects Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) as its 2018 beneficiary partner!

Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) is the nation’s only pan-Asian children and families’ advocacy organization, bringing together community-based organizations (CBO) as well as youth and parents to fight for equity for the Asian Pacific American (APA) community.

The coalition’s work is especially compelling because they train and equip community members, including students, parents, teachers, and CBO staff, to become forward-thinking change-makers, and to push for change in such places as schools and workplaces. As part of its Social Justice Leadership Institute, CACF works with APA youth through a program called the Asian American Student Advocacy Project (ASAP), to develop Asian leaders of tomorrow.

Both Co-Executive directors are looking to re-commit the coalition and would benefit greatly from an influx of talented and resourceful volunteers as the coalition looks to devote resources towards strategic planning and communication efforts this year. PbP volunteers will be instrumental in helping the coalition think about how best to connect and engage with young professionals in NYC.

Stay tuned to learn more about ways you can work with PbP and CACF this year!

Project by Project NY launches its “Immigrant Speaker Series” with Jack Liang, of PokéSpot and Project Cozy fame

About Jack Liang:
Jack is a native New Yorker, successful entrepreneur and restauranteur. He is one of the co-founders of two iconic NYC hotspots: PokéSpot and Project Cozy.
Follow him on IG: @mrjackma

Interview Highlight:
When asked about how Jack’s parents felt about his risky venture into the coffee and (at the time) little known poke business, Jack responded by saying that his parents took an even bigger risk when they left China in search of a better life. His parents came to the US without a safety net or being able to speak the language, and yet through hard work and sacrifice, created an opportunity for Jack to become a risk-taker and a successful entrepreneur.

About the series:
“Immigrant Speaker Series” is a YouTube series aimed toward inspiring leaders and entrepreneurs of the future. In this series, Project by Project NY is seeking out Asian American leaders to share their stories about what it was like growing up in an immigrant community and what advice they would give to their peers and other young Asian Americans who wish to follow in their footsteps. If you have someone you would like to nominate, or would like to share your personal story, be sure to reach out to marketing.ny@projectbyproject.org with your info!

To learn more about Jack’s interview, make sure to follow PbP NY on social media and stay up to date on when his interview comes out!
