Stand With Orlando
Project by Project is devastated by the news of the shooting that occurred on Sunday, June 12th and stands in solidarity with the LGBTQ community in mourning the loss of lives and condemning the senseless violence in Orlando, or anywhere in the world. In focusing this year on raising awareness of the challenges still facing the LGBTQ community, PbP stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the victims and their families to call for peace and compassion in the aftermath of what was an act of both terror and hate.

PbP Memorial Day Weekend Hike @ Old Zoo
PbPers not only love to eat at all the newest restaurants in Los Angeles, but also enjoy getting in some fresh air and exercise while checking out interesting landmarks throughout the city!
The Volunteer team organized a small Memorial Day weekend hike to the historic Old Zoo in Griffith Park, where PbP members got to explore the ruins of various animal enclosures at the old LA zoo. The hike was a great opportunity for old and new members to bond on a relaxing afternoon in nature.
PbP & APCF Fundraising Gala
Fellow members, Justin Tang and Eileen Ung were kindly invited by PbP national board member Michelle Ko to attend APCF’s annual fundraising gala to learn about APCF’s impact in the community as well as celebrate the accomplishments of philanthropic individuals and organizations recognized with annual awards by APCF. APCF’s mission is to cultivate philanthropists to invest in organizations that empower underserved Asian and Pacific Islanders to prosper. Through a myriad of fundraising strategies APCF is able to garner over $100K in grants to over twenty beneficiary API organizations a year. One particular strategy is the Giving Circle, where APCF helps facilitate a method through which community members are able to crowdfund a large number of small contributions that would receive matched funding – this type of grassroots fundraising is definitely something that PbP could potentially leverage as well. They felt very inspired by APCF’s mission and are rejuvenated to continue in our PbP fundraising efforts.

She recounts her trip to Burning Man, the catalyst that triggers everything that’s about to happen to Loh. Despite the heavy topics of overcoming depression, menopause, her mid-life crisis, Loh shows her journey of healing through laughter.
Born to a German mother and a Chinese father, Loh is author, performer, and regular commentator on radio shows “Morning Edition,” “This American Life” and “Marketplace”; her weekly segment “The Loh Life” is heard on KPCC. She has been named one of the 50 most influential comedians by Variety, and her solo shows have sold out around the country, including engagements at the Kennedy Center and off-Broadway.
