Vietnamese Rainbow of Orange County Sensitivity Training

VROC Sensitivity Training

During our May Steering Committee meeting, we had the pleasure of welcoming Hieu and Lucy from the Vietnamese Rainbow of Orange County (VROC) for Sensitivity training. During this training, they spoke about the difficulties of the coming out process for the members of the LGBTQ community and had everyone participate in an interactive activity. It was an extremely impactful experience and we are so happy that they were able to come by! To learn more, please visit VROC’s website.

PbP is a Community Supporter of APAHM

APAHM

The Los Angeles Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM) will be rounding off the end of heritage month with “Pacific Bridge”, a FREE high energy family-friendly entertainment event that invites some of the most renowned Asian Pacific American (APA) artists, and entertainers for an evening of celebration and live-performances. The event will debut on May 21, 2016 on the steps of City Hall.

Pacific Bridge is part of a series of events LA APAHM is hosting throughout the month of May to highlight that APAs are part of the fabric of the City of Los Angeles and reinforce the 2016 LA APAHM theme “We Are LA.”

In addition to live performances and entertainment, Pacific Bridge will host some of Southern California’s most popular food trucks, interactive photo booths, free giveaways, and many other ways for attendees to get involved with the celebration.

Volunteer of the Month: May

Eileen Ung

Eileen Ung’s goal for PbP this year is to reach the fundraising goal and help the team build groundwork for years to come. This being her first year in PbP speaks volumes to the dedication and commitment she has towards PbP and her fundraising team. When she is not volunteering, you can find her crunching numbers as a financial analyst at Union Bank in Downtown Los Angeles. If you work in the DTLA area and is searching for a lunch buddy, Eileen is your go to person!

Over the course of her involvement with PbP, some of her favorite moments include bonding with her fellow team members and getting to know other Steering Committee members. However, something her fellow team members may not know is that she use to be a diehard Kpop fan. When you get a chance, ask her who her secret celebrity crushes are. Aside from her Kpop and celebrity obsessions, Eileen enjoys spending time at concerts, comedy shows, and open-mic nights. For all the PbP foodies, the next time you are looking to try a new restaurant or coffee shop, Eileen is the perfect person to go with, she may even teach you something new from a latest podcast she follows. Eileen has left a lasting impression on her fellow team members in the short time she has been with PbP and we look forward to her continuous involvement. Keep up the great work!!
