Comprised of a team with backgrounds across finance, consulting, technology, media, entertainment and law, PbP’s founding team felt it could do more to empower the Asian American community. PbP SF’s Volunteers of the Month for August 2016 – Rochelle Truong

Project by Project SF's latest Volunteer of the Month recognizes an individual who goes above and beyond the ask and with enthusiasm. Please join us in congratulating Rochelle Truong!

Rochelle has been invaluable to the Marketing team as the Manager of Design Production and to PbP as a whole. Given little direction, Rochelle has created beautiful and creative designs that we are proud to use and leverage. We are always pleasantly surprised and delighted at what Rochelle has brought to the table, and appreciate her dedication to delivering her best work. In such a short time, Rochelle has proven to be a trustworthy team member and an invaluable asset to the team. We couldn't have done what we have without her, and we are incredibly lucky to have you as part of the team!

PbP SF’s Volunteers of the Month for August 2016 – Lucas Yee

Project by Project SF’s latest Volunteer of the Month recognize an individual who exemplifies great work ethic and taking ownership of projects thrown his way. Please join us in congratulating Lucas Yee!

As our Events Production Manager, Lucas hit the floor running and quickly took responsibility for his role. He’s able to work with vague concepts and proactively brings ideas to fruition. His passion is obvious – he asks big questions about how the organization works as a unit and has generously offered his apartment as a staging area. With fresh eyes and an uninhibited tendency to throw ideas out, he’s been a vital contributor to Project by Project. He’s secured our ticket sales platform, sold the most tickets of any first year member, and has been our venue’s go-to guy.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Plate by Plate would not have come together without him. Please join us in thanking Lucas!

Plate by Plate

PbP SF’s Volunteer of the Month for August 2016 - Derek Miu

Derek has been a huge asset to PbP since joining this year. As the only Operations team member, he's been holding it down on all fronts. From website updates to setting up our ticket sales platform, Derek is always resourceful and willing to own activities. He has gone above and beyond by exploring opportunities to improve our existing processes, such as using Salesforce.com for our records. He's also been a tremendous help to other teams-- for example, he dropped everything to help the Events team with check-in during our last happy hour. Finally, Derek went out of his way to travel to LA to help with our sister chapter's Plate by Plate event and gain experience in preparation for our event. Derek is always looking to lend a helping hand and we are so lucky to have him as a PbP team member!

PbP SF’s Volunteer of the Month for June 2016 – Gordon Leung

gordonleungProject by Project SF's latest Volunteer of the Month recognizes an individual who has shown true dedication and passion for our organization.

As a new member to PbP and the outreach team this year, Gordon Leung has already demonstrated that he really embodies the spirit of philanthropy. Gordon has had great participation at partner and vendor events such as the APIENC fundraiser and St. George Spirit Tour. He is extremely reliable, and not only responds quickly and does what he's asked, but even volunteers to do extra tasks to help out past partners. For example, he offered to help collect and drop off donated ties to EBAYC on his day off of work, and was even prepared to go shop for more ties if we didn't have enough. Gordon's excitement to get more involved has been evident and is extremely appreciated. PbP SF is lucky to have him.

PbP SF 2016 Beneficiary Partner Announcement

Each year the local chapters of Project by Project (Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York) come together to address the needs of the API community by selecting a theme to champion. Each chapter partners with a local non-profit organization that focuses on the issues of the annual theme and tailors a year-long campaign to support its fundraising, community outreach, and public awareness efforts. This year, we are focusing on the needs of the LGBTQ API community. We are proud and excited to announce that we are partnering with API Equality Northern California (APIENC)! Founded in 2004, APIENC aims to build LGBTQ API power to amplify voices and increase visibility of their communities. Through organizing, they inspire and train leaders, establish intergenerational connections, and document and disseminate their histories.

This year, PbP SF will work with APIENC to develop effective strategies to enhance its capacity to better serve the LGBTQ API community.

To learn more about APIENC, please visit their website: http://www.apiequalitync.org/

PbP SF’s Volunteer of the Month for May 2016 - Maile Huynh

Project by Project SF’s latest Volunteer of the Month recognizes an individual who exceeds expectations and brings a fun flair to the team. Please join us in congratulating Maile Huynh!
Returning to PbP for the second year as a Volunteer Team Member, Maile continues to be a
dedicated member as she dove right into planning our first team bonding event of the year. Given only little direction, Maile took the lead to research, plan and execute a fun day of activities. She was given the challenge to plan a day at little to no cost, and successfully achieved that by finding Adventure Associates (a company that specializes in team bonding events) to generously donate their time to facilitate PbP's activity for FREE, saving us $3000-$4000! Not only did she host a super fun day, but everyone who participated left feeling accomplished, empowered, and closer to each other as an organization, which is exactly what we wanted the end result of the team bonding event to be. Aside from planning great events, Maile is bubbly, full of energy, and a great person to be around! She is one of our most dedicated members traveling all the way from San Jose to San Francisco (60+miles) for all meetings and activities. We are super excited to have her back on board again!

PbP San Francsico Tour of St. George Spirits

Project by Project SF would like to invite you and your friends to join us on a spirits tour at St. George’s! For those who attended Plate by Plate last year, you may remember the delicious tastings offered by St. George Spirits. If you missed out, now’s your chance to join us as we support our past vendor at their local, independent craft distillery for a tasting tour. This is an extraordinary way to learn about craft distillation and artisanal spirits. The whole experience will give you the chance to see how spirits are made and understand exactly what goes into crafting what’s in your glass. Tours provide an overview of the production area, with the chance to view the stills, fermentation tanks, barrel storage, and bottling line. Tours conclude in the tasting room with a guided tasting designed to help you learn how to approach and appreciate spirits. Each tasting includes a selection of six of their spirits—all made onsite!

All tours and tastings are 21 and over. Valid ID is required for entry.

DATE: Saturday, May 21, 2016 TIME: 11:30am-3:40pm (tour 1-2pm) PRICE: $20/person (cash or card)

PbP SF’s Volunteer of the Month for July 2015 – Mimi Xu

Project by Project SF’s latest Volunteer of the Month recognizes an individual who exceeds expectations and brings a creative flair to the team. Please join us in congratulating Mimi Xu! In her first year with PbP, Mimi has been a great asset to the events team. She acts quickly and fully takes ownership for any task that is given to her-- finding happy hour locations, researching party rentals, helping to plan our annual winery tour, and many more. Mimi is great about keeping her director informed on her progress and summarizing her findings so that it's easy to make a decision. Recently, Mimi went above and beyond by representing PbP at KSW's Dumpling Wars event. Mimi and team worked 15 hours over two days shopping, caramelizing onions, prepping the filling, wrapping dumplings, and then cooking and serving 400 dumplings to hungry guests at the event (all of this after running the half marathon!). Mimi was a significant contributor to our team winning the audience choice award, as she came up with the creative, delicious recipe that everyone loved (french onion soup dumplings... mmm...).

Thanks for everything, Mimi! We're so lucky to have you in our family!

PbP SF at Dumpling Wars 3: Game of Noms

Project by Project SF had a blast this past weekend making dumplings at the fun and successful "Dumpling Wars 3: Game of Noms" event, hosted by Kearny Street Workshop! A big congrats to House PbP on winning the People's Choice Award with those delicious Onion Knight (French onion soup) Dumplings!! Surely that's a recipe and tale worthy of posterity.
