Plate by Plate SF, listed as one of San Francisco's biggest food events, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a line-up that lives up to the hype. We’re proud to provide you with the ultimate Plate by Plate experience. Throughout the night, taste bites from over 40 high-end restaurants and local beverage purveyors. In addition to that, a premium live silent auction and exclusively for VIP ticket holders: a 3 course - seated tasting experience from Salt House SF.
10 Things You Need To Know Prior to Plate by Plate SF
1. Plate by Plate Attire
Come dressed to impress at Plate by Plate in semi-formal or formal attire. Look your finest while eating and drinking to your heart’s content, socializing with 500+ other guests from across the Bay, and participating in our Silent Auction
2. Come Early & Come Hungry
This may sound obvious, but we can’t stress enough that you should come to Plate by Plate with a hearty appetite!
If you’re a VIP ticket holder, you’ll get an entire hour of early access to the floor - before anyone else. Be there on time at 6 pm and enjoy an extra 60 minutes of no lines and no rush.
If you’re not a VIP, the door opens at 7 pm - but we advise getting there before then, as people start lining up early. Every second waiting in line is one second that you're not eating and drinking!
3. Pick Up Our Event Program @ Check in
This is your personal cheat sheet to everything going on at Plate by Plate. You can find information here from the floor layout on how to bid in our silent auction, as well as information on Project by Project SF and our partner, Gum Moon.
4. Eat & Drink Strategically
Just as planning your arrival is important, planning your eating and drinking at Plate by Plate is crucial. As mentioned, our event program is going to be helpful in planning your night.
Pro tip: Popular restaurants like Hashiri, Akiko, and 3rd Cousin might run out early. The divide & conquer plan is called for when you’re coming as a group. Bites that have good word of mouth are also at risk. This is not the time to “save the best for last” - if you see what you like, go for it!
5. VIP - Book Your Spot
As a VIP first-timer, here is what you need to know. The VIP area is a private section where our VIP food and beverage sponsors (Salt House, Endless West, and Natalie’s Macarons) will be providing exclusive tastings our VIPs guests Salt House’s Chef Evan Gotanda will be serving a 3-course seated tasting for which you’ll need to reserve your spot beforehand.
When you enter, head straight to our designated VIP welcome table to reserve your spot, then explore your options on the GA floor.
We provide guests with different time slots for Salt House to work out your Eat & Drink plan, wait for a group of friends, etc. After signing up, we’ll assign you a time slot and designated seat (with a number) to make sure everybody will get a chance to taste Chef's Evan exceptional food. Please come back on time for your reservation, you have 15 mins before we give your spot away.
6. Best Food & Drink Votes
Every year, Plate by Plate guests vote for the dish & beverage that they think are the most outstanding. This year attendees will get two voting stubs, one for Best Beverage and one for Best Dish with instructions. They vote by ripping and dropping the respective ticket stub into the respective beverage and restaurant vendor's voting box. Voting ends at 9 pm and winners will be announced at 9:30 pm on the main stage.
7. Silent Auction
For the first time ever, we’re introducing mobile bidding through ClickBid for our Silent Auction. This is a way that you can start bidding on the items even before the event and a secure payment system that makes it more convenient for you.
With ClickBid, you can securely bid from anywhere in/out of the venue using just your smartphone. You'll be able to bid on prizes like dinner for two at Alexander's Steakhouse, a weekend in Napa, and even a 7-night beachside stay in Fiji. Pre-register with ClickBid today for early access to our auction items and you'll be entered into a raffle to win a pair of tickets for Plate by Plate 2020!
8. Interactive Art Installation | Gum Moon
This year, Project by Project honors the rich history of Gum Moon, a local women’s shelter and outreach center in Chinatown, San Francisco. Gum Moon provides a safe sanctuary for women and empowers immigrant families by fostering community, stability, and self-reliance.
Our Art Installation is a walk-through Gum Moon’s history and the incredible work that Gum Moon has done for the community In the past 150 years. Be sure to check it out to learn more about our partner’s history and great work.
9. Pose at Photo Booth
You’re here at Plate by Plate, wearing your best, eating the best food, drinking the best cocktails and surrounded by all your great friends. Make sure these moments live on by taking a pic or two (or three) at our photo booth, provided by Chroma Photobooth. Don’t forget to share pictures with us by tagging @pbpsf on Instagram and using the official hashtag #PlatebyPlateSF!
10. Fill Out the Passport
We are introducing Plate by Plate passport this year, you can find it in the back of our program book. Collect a sticker at each station. Complete all 5 stops and bring the map back to 1st Floor Registration for an additional FREE raffle ticket to win a pair of tickets to Plate by Plate 2020.
