Protect our Community Fundraiser

Donate to help us protect our community!

Funds will be used to purchase, plan and distribute safety devices around NYC as well as safety awareness events for the AAPI community.

More safety awareness events & self defense resources for our AAPI community, especially our elderly population, is more important than ever. Last month, we went to Columbus Park to pass out safety alarms to the elderly AAPI community and demonstrated how to use them. Surprisingly, there were so many seniors who didn't know why they needed safety alarms. With so many organizations donating and distributing safety alarms, we had assumed most of the population would have already received one, but that's not yet the case. Only a few days after our visit to Columbus Park, on May 31st, an attack happened just a block away where an Asian woman was punched in the face. Help us spread the word. Let’s keep NYC safe together.

TAP-NY AAPI Reflections and the Power of Connection

TAP-NY, PbP NY and coaches, Dr. Penelope Hsu and Farah Bala, hosted a night of connection and community!

In light of the recent AAPI attacks, celebrating our AAPI heritage month and caring for our mental health takes on a deeper resonance than ever before. This powerful, interactive virtual event helped us process and proceed through these challenging times as we share the power of connection and celebrate the strength of our community.

Dr. Penelope Hsu, a physician and leadership coach, and Farah Bala, a leadership and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) consultant and coach, led us through a 90 minute journey of healing and moving forward. Participants had opportunities to connect with each other, share experiences and reflections, and learn strategies to care for oneself and support each other.

Asian Community Check-In: Tell Us How You're Feeling

Asian Community Check-In: Tell Us How You're Feeling

Considering the horrific racially motivated shootings that occurred against Asian women in Atlanta on March 16, we create a safe space for Asian-identifying people to connect, discuss, and grieve together as we processed those events. We acknowledge that this is not an isolated act of violence against Asians and Asian Americans. This is only the latest in a series of widespread violence, racism, and hate that has been inflicted upon our community for not just the past year but for centuries.

With this check-in, we gave a voice for people to share their thoughts, opinions, and feelings on what happened and what has been happening.

The session will be led by community leaders from Subtle Asian Life NYC, Project by Project New York, and Asian Creative Network NYC.
