PRESIDENT & DIRECTORS


 
 
  • Kathy joined Project by Project in 2020, and this will be her fifth year volunteering with the organization (including one year as the SF Chapter President and two as the SF Team & Leadership Director). Prior to joining PbP, Kathy graduated from UCLA with a degree in Physiological Sciences and received her Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Yale with a concentration in Health Care Management. Since 2019, she has been working as a strategy consultant for CVS Health’s insurance subsidiary, Aetna. In her free time, Kathy enjoys going to the gym, binge-watching reality TV shows, and playing with her dog and cat.

  • This will be Hing's fourth year involved with Project by Project, all spent on Team and Leadership, supporting chapter leadership development, culture building, membership engagement. Outside of PbP, Hing has work in student affairs higher education for 11 years, where his passion is supporting students to have a complete collegiate experience through identity and leadership development and intentional experiential learning experiences. As a Khmer transracial-transnational adoptee (TRA), Hing also spends time in the adoptee community advocating and amplifying adoptee narratives, particularly to ensure Asian adoptee voices are included in the Asian American conversation. Hing also volunteers his time on the leadership community of the Asian Pacific Islander Knowledge Community (APIKC) and on a sub-planning committee for the 2024 national conference in Seattle - both within NASPA, Hing's professional association. On his free time, Hing enjoys global travel, freelance photography, spending time with his 17-year old dach"son" name Buster and is an aviation enthusiast.

  • Ant Liwanag - Ant returns to PbP for his second year as Co-Director of Events, focused on Events Production. He is thrilled to be a part of PbP because it provides opportunities to give back to the local AAPI community, develop leadership skills, and work with like-minded talented individuals. Ant currently works at YouTube on a Strategy & Ops Team. In his spare time, you can catch him training for his next marathon, traveling, or on the hunt for some of the best food in San Francisco.

    Jamie Santos - Jamie is a free, creative spirit who values community and building fun, inclusive spaces. She comes from a professional marketing background but believes we’re more than just our jobs. After her typical 9 - 5 you can find her sweating it out at a fitness class, hosting a dinner party for friends, or indulging in sweet ice cream and conversations. Talk to her about all things food (especially baking!), travel, hiking, or mental health.

  • 2024 will be Teddy’s second year in Project by Project SF. He hails from the Bay Area in California, and aside from a stint as an international student in Shanghai, he went to school at UC Berkeley and lived in the area since. By day, he is an Engineering Program Manager at Apple, working on new product development in hardware. By night, or whenever else, he tried to squeeze in some fun - playing basketball and ultimate frisbee. Throughout, he has always been passionate about community service and volunteerism, and he is very excited, and honored, to return to Project by Project's talented team to make a positive impact on the AAPI and South Bay community!

  • Introducing Sammy, stepping into a Director role at Project by Project (PbP) for her second year. Previously part of Fundraising in her first year, Sammy is now leading the Marketing team and brimming with excitement to elevate PbP's brand awareness and impact within the AAPI community.

    Outside of her PbP commitments, Sammy's world revolves around delightful pursuits. You can find her crafting the perfect sourdough bread in the kitchen, daydreaming about her next vacation escapade, or lacing up her running shoes for refreshing jogs with her lovable dog Pax (follow their adventures @pacific.pax). Sammy is ready to blend her passion for PbP's mission with her creative flair to make a meaningful mark in the AAPI community.

  • Lucy joined PbP in August of 2021 with the hopes of spending more time serving the Bay Area community with like-minded individuals. She brought her event planning (and foodie) mindset to PbP where supported the Events team for two years. Lucy currently works in higher education & student affairs at a Bay Area university and looks forward to focusing on the internal logistics of the SF chapter.

    In her spare time, Lucy is most likely drinking boba, building a travel itinerary, or listening to a murder mystery podcast.

  • Jess holds a B.A. in English and M.S. in Technology Management, both from the University of California, Santa Barbara. By day, she’s a product marketer at Google; she focuses on Android’s physical safety features that help provide users with peace of mind (e.g. Car Crash Detection, Earthquake Alert System, Unknown Tracker Alerts, and much more).

    True to her native Californian roots, you can catch her SCUBA diving the coastline or bending over backward in a hot yoga class in her free time.

  • Brandon joined Project by Project in 2023 on a mission to create positive impacts in the Bay Area community with a group of like-minded and ambitious leaders. He began as a Fundraising committee member and is now guiding the finances of the San Francisco chapter as Finance Director. Brandon graduated with an Economics degree from the University of California, Berkeley and built a career in corporate development and strategy. When he is not thinking of ways of helping the Asian community, Brandon enjoys trying new restaurants, hiking and spending time with family and friends.

  • As a Bay Area native, Amanda is excited to join Project by Project for her second year as Legal Counsel for the San Francisco chapter. She looks forward to collaborating with other enthusiastic volunteers and using her legal experience to give back to the local communities that shaped her.

    Amanda currently works as in-house counsel for travel booking and expense SaaS company and is always open to travel suggestions and tips, especially those related to food.

EVENTS

The Events team oversees the planning and execution of all public events held by the San Francisco chapter throughout the year. The team ensures the chapter’s adherence to national goals and themes for events.

 
 
  • Originally from Toronto, Jen moved to the Bay Area for work (product and brand marketing) and, post-pandemic, joined PbP in 2023 to give back to the SF and AAPI community. Outside of work, you'll likely run into Jen at a concert but when she's not out bopping, you can find her baking something sweet at home or binging a K-drama or cooking show.

  • Meet Tina, a vibrant neuroscientist in biotech who values community impact. Beyond her professional pursuits, she's a passionate creator of memorable spaces and events. Returning for her second year at PbP SF, Tina thrives on making connections and sparking conversations. Don't hesitate to say hi!

  • Marisa joined PbP in 2023 with the goal of wanting to give back to the AAPI community that raised her. Previously part of T&L, Marisa is now excited to join the Events team, focusing on F&B Relations. She holds a B.S. in Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell University and currently works as a People Analytics Senior Associate at PwC. When she's not drowning in ppt decks and excel spreadsheets, you can find her binge-watching the latest K-drama, planning her next trip, hiking, or cheering for her hometown sports teams.

  • Marketer and product manager with experience specializing in strategic planning and brand management for video games, anime, movies and other types of entertainment.

  • Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Adel has been in the Bay Area for almost 3 years after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania. During the workday she is a software engineer at Meta in advertising, but outside of work is an avid dancer, freelance artist/designer, and Yelp Elite! Adel is thrilled to join PbP for the first time in order to find and create community who cares about AAPI advocacy and philanthropy, as well as get hands on experience with the Events Team to create sustainable relationships with local vendors.

  • This is Kat's first year in PbP and she is excited to become more involved in her local community. She currently works at Hinge Health on the Revenue Operations & Strategy team. In her free time she enjoys trying out new restaurants or recipes, and spending time outdoors, whether it's skiing, backpacking, or hiking with her dog.

  • Crisly returns to ProjectbyProject for her second year! She is a Bay Area native with a long history doing nonprofit work in the San Francisco Bay Area. She joined PbP in hopes to expand her community and launch her career in event logistics after walking away from medical school. On her free time, you can find her either gaming, going out with friends, or playing with her cats. Her dream is to one day break into the gaming industry with a career in event operations.

  • Celine comes from a multicultural background with cantonese and latin roots. She loves hearing stories from people of all backgrounds and enjoys serendipitous encounters. Professionally, she’s worked in healthcare-health tech, but is excited to learn more about community-based opportunities!

    Celine hopes to grow more roots in San Francisco by investing her heart into the local Bay Area communities.

    In her adventure time, you can find Celine salsa-bachata dancing around the city, biking on sunny days, traveling locally/globally, or spending quality time (typically food related) with friends & family!

  • Annalynn is excited to be joining PbP for the second year! She currently works in Recruiting at a mental health tech company and is passionate about changing the stima of mental health within the AAPI community. During her free time, she enjoys traveling abroad and experiencing new cultures, shooting film photography and going to craft fairs.

  • Hi! My name is Katherine. I'm a huge foodie. If I'm not eating, I'm cooking, baking, or finding new cafes and restaurants to try. I love reading and aim to read 52 books this year. Fun fact about me, I used to have 6 wisdom teeth!

  • Rochelle is currently a second year returning member of PbP. She joined the organization to learn more about giving back to the community as well building fellowship with her peers. In her day to day role she works in Customer Success at a fintech company. She has several years in experience in building client relationships and product consulting. In her free time she enjoys trying out new restaurants and planning fun social events for her friends.

  • Originally born and raised in Arlington, TX, Tony has lived in the Bay Area since moving for college, studying Product Design and working as a User Experience Researcher. In his spare time, you might find him dancing and jumping around at a concert, playing weekly flag football, or hiking and exploring the great outdoors.


FUNDRAISING

The Fundraising team is responsible for all revenue generating initiatives via local outreach to corporations, individuals, and public entities. Fundraising maintains records and databases of all contacts, relationship logs, and inputs the data into the national database.

 
 
  • Terence joined Project by Project in 2024 as the Manager of Fundraising Education. Terence is originally from New Jersey but moved to San Francisco in 2021. He currently works at Google in Product Strategy for Search. Outside of work, Terence likes to stay active playing basketball, tennis, pickleball, or snowboarding. He is excited to give back to the AAPI community and work with the rest of PBP!

  • Monetization Strategy Manager at LinkedIn with 7 years experience in Investment Banking and 2 years experience in Management Consulting. World traveler 60+ countries, avid hiker, and scuba diver.

  • Still being a new-ish member of the Bay, I love exploring all of the diverse neighborhoods in the area! I’m not so fond of the homelessness that’s pervasive in the SF neighborhoods I live by, and hope it’s a problem we can eradicate in the not-so-distant future. From overcoming financial instability to witnessing the struggles of the BLM movement while living in Washington DC, I feel a strong motivation to reform the institutions that perpetuate inequality in our society. When I’m not fighting the good fight, I love eating all the sushi and dumplings while playing video games and watching YouTube. I’m pretty basic like that.

  • As a Bay Area native who just moved back from New York, Ingrid is excited to join Project by Project to get to know the SF community and learn how to best support AAPI folks in the area. She has always been passionate about uplifting people and communities; she has been involved in LGBTQ+ advocacy and DE&I work for many years. Ingrid is currently a product manager and leads GTM initiatives in a tech startup, and she previously worked in strategy consulting. She holds a B.A. in Computer Science and Anthropology from Columbia University. In her spare time, you can catch Ingrid reading in cafes, picnicking in the park, climbing with friends and doodling little drawings.

  • Janelle began volunteering with PbP LA's Marketing Team in 2020. Following a one-year hiatus for graduate school, she moved to the Bay Area in late 2021 and joined the SF Marketing Team. After two years there, she's now excited to continue supporting the AAPI community as part of PbP's Fundraising Team. Outside of PbP, Janelle works as a UX Designer and is actively involved in her church.

  • Hey, I'm Jared! I joined PbP to serve the SF community and enrich the lives in those in need with acts of kindness. Professionally, I'm a Digital Marketer and can assist you with online product advertising strategies. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the outdoors and vibing to r&b, hip-hop, and edm.

  • Franklin is joining Project by Project for the first time this year and is excited to give back to the Bay Area community. He is thrilled to be working with like minded individuals to tackle local issues. Professionally Franklin is an urban planner/civil engineer or what some would call a plangineer working towards making cities more livable and safe. In his free time he enjoys basketball, skiing, binging tv shows, and cooking.


MARKETING

The Marketing Team develops marketing strategies for the local team on all initiatives, including publicity campaigns and promotional strategies and is responsible for producing all marketing collateral, info packets, flyers, invitations, correspondence, email, newsletters, and graphics.

 
 
  • Vivian is excited to start her second year with Project by Project and can't wait to connect with the community. Vivian enjoys meeting people from all walks of life and learning from them through the stories they tell. She likes to start her day off with her skincare routine and a homemade cup of matcha latte. She also enjoys wine and became an aspiring wine geek in 2019 through the WSET. Vivian currently works at Snowflake in Sales Ops and has previously volunteered as a board member in a non-profit.

  • Michelle is a recent graduate from UC San Diego, studying Design and Marketing, and has recently moved back to her home town in the Bay Area. She is passionate about uplifting and elevating stories within the Asian/Asian American community and is excited to be on the Creative Media side of the Marketing team. In her free time, she enjoys visiting new cafes and restaurants, binging the latest TV shows and movies, playing games with friends, and trying to make new matcha and coffee drinks at home!

  • Donna is joining PbP this year as the Manager of Campaign & Content Strategy, excited to help create positive change and empower the AAPI community. She holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and brings experience in defense innovation consulting.

    Outside of work, Donna finds joy in strolling through farmers’ markets, experimenting with home cafe recipes in the kitchen, and exploring new restaurants!

  • As someone who has sought more ways to strengthen her leadership and creative skills, Cindy is thrilled to join PbP as a Marketing Creative team member. Born in Seoul and raised in San Diego, Cindy is grateful to have called the Bay Area home since 2018. Since then, she has been working for UC San Francisco coordinating research projects on tobacco prevention, HIV/AIDS management, and digital health. She holds a B.S and Master's in Public Health (MPH). Amongst her many hobbies, most are related to fitness (lifting, climbing) and creative expression (exploring the local music scene, wandering around craft fairs and museums, and DJing).

  • Eunice is a Miami native who found herself in the Bay Area after graduating from UC Berkeley.

    She currently leads sales and customer success transformation programs at a software company. In her free time, you can find Eunice binge-watching Korean dramas, playing board games with friends, and sweating it out at an OrangeTheory class. Eunice is excited to be part of PbP and bring her passion to serving the AAPI community.

  • Jessica embraces adventure, curiosity, and versatility, always poised for her next challenge. A recent MBA Graduate at the University of San Francisco, Jessica hopes to blend her skills in business with her heart in social impact. Now starting her fourth year with Project by Project, Jessica welcomes new opportunities, while fostering a desire for growth and a commitment to uplifting the AAPI community. In her free time, Jessica enjoys live music, lifting, and legos.

  • William is a Los Angeles native who's now diving into community involvement with PbP in San Francisco. Holding a degree in Business Administration & Applied Analytics from USC, William has transitioned into the corporate world as a consultant, specializing in the life sciences sector. Outside of his professional pursuits, he enjoys staying active, whipping up gourmet meals, and exploring the vibrant city scene!

  • Erica is returning to PbP for her 2nd year with the Marketing team as a Content Strategist! Passionate about making an impact, she is looking forward to being a part of PbP to give back and cultivate an experience of self growth and leadership while meeting like-minded individuals in the AAPI community. By day, she is a Management Consultant at Deloitte working on large scale business transformations. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, enjoying the art scene, challenging herself in the realm of lagree, or planning for her next travel destination!

  • Jiwon was born in the metropolitan city of Seoul, Korea and raised in East Bay, California. She went to UC Santa Barbara and remains a proud Gaucho. In undergrad, she studied Microbiology and Technical Writing, hoping to combine different academic disciplines to be a better science communicator. She currently works as a Program Manager in biotechnology, working with cross-functional teams to execute clinical trials in various therapeutics to bring life-changing drugs to market. She has experience volunteering with hospitals in the Bay Area and operating a mutual aids organization to bring aid (e.g., DIY Air Filters) to communities who need it the most.


OPERATIONS

The Operations team acts as the gears that make Project by Project work. Operations manages chapter logistics, IT, historical, and organization duties. Operations also maintains organization policies, email infrastructure, data storage, and chapter equipment/supplies and work directly with all other teams to provide logistical support.

 
 
  • As a proud native of San Francisco, Sam is committed to giving back to the community that has shaped him. Through his involvement with PbP, he seeks to make a positive impact and contribute to the betterment of the community that has been instrumental in his upbringing. Sam graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a degree in Business. He began his career in consulting and has since worked in crypto/tech industries. Outside of work, Sam finds joy in rock climbing, camping, and cherishing moments with his loved ones.

  • Mei returns to PbP as an Ops team member for another year, drawn by her genuine enjoyment of giving back to the AAPI communities and building connections with like-minded individuals. She firmly believes in the significance of communities uniting to support and uplift one another, a principle that fuels her commitment to PbP's mission. Beyond her involvement with PbP, Mei serves as a Behavioral Health Clinician, specializing in catering to the mental health needs of the AAPI population. Outside of her professional endeavors, Mei finds joy in exploring the world through travel, with many of her international adventures being solo expeditions. She also enjoys pushing her physical limits through long-distance running and hiking, immersing herself in the pages of good books, and indulging her sweet tooth with decadent desserts.

  • Lillian is a passionate-minded spirit who is constantly curious and seeking to make meaningful connections. Originally a socal native, Lillian moved to San Francisco last year to fulfill her dream of living in the city! Now settled in, she looks forward to putting her time into purposeful work by meeting likeminded individuals and building valuable relations through community work. During the day, she works as an HR specialist and recruiter for a startup company specializing in micromobility. In her spare time, you'll probably find Lillian at the newest trending coffee shop, exploring various parts of the city, having a picnic with her friends, and very likely trying to pet the next dog she sees.

  • Nathaniel in a new member of the operations team with Project by Project hoping to make meaningful connections and impact in the Bay Area. Nathaniel grew up in San Jose and graduated in with a degree in Computer Science before working for several years at a community tech education non-profit in East Palo Alto. Currently, he works as a Computer Science curriculum developer at Khan Academy. In his free time, Nathaniel enjoys playing and watching soccer, cooking and trying new foods, and spending time with friends.


OUTREACH

The Outreach team is the main liaison between PbP and other community-based organizations on the local level. Outreach oversees and manages local campaigns and relationships with beneficiary partners (both current and past) and ensures adherence to PbP’s policies regarding the partner.

 
 
  • Jon returns for his second year volunteering with PbP SF, this time as a manager on the Outreach team. He is currently pursuing his MBA degree at Santa Clara University and works at Tesla as a program manager. Above all else, Jon values relationships with his friends, family, and community. He is driven to be the best leader he can be and hopes to contribute to PbP's mission by helping develop leaders and strengthening the organization's relationships with other community partners and NPOs.

  • Hi! Spent a couple of years in NYC, but now I'm back in SF and excited to rejoin PBP as an Outreach Program Manager. I have an adventurous spirit and love exploring new spots - a delicious new restaurant, a cozy cafe or a cool bar. Some of my go-to sources of joy are sunny days, spending time with my dog (his name is Mushu) and friends, reading a good book, practicing yoga and being outdoors in nature. Can't wait to meet and connect with you all!

  • Lucas joined PbP in 2023 and is happy to join for a second year. Lucas is a big foodie and strongly believes that food provides a context to create lasting connections. After work, you can find him baking, playing mahjong, and watching street food YouTube videos. Don't ask what his favorite Miyazaki movie is unless you have 2 hours to kill.

  • Kayla is excited for her first year as a member of PbP and is looking forward to serving the local community. She grew up in Southern California and earned her B.A. in Communication Studies from UCLA. In 2018, she set her roots down in the Bay Area. On her perfect slow evening, you can find Kayla reading a great book with a glass of wine and candles.

  • Hannah is excited to join the Outreach committee for Project by Project!

    Hannah is from the good ol Midwest and completed her BS in Advertising from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. Hailing from Chicago, she’s passionate about food - specifically deep-dish pizza, nostalgic hot-dog moments and The Bear.

    In San Francisco, she works in Marketing at Google, managing Operations and hyping up the office dogs. When she’s not in the office, you’ll catch her trying out new restaurants, picking out flowers at the farmers market and taking advantage of all the nature that the Bay Area has to offer.

  • Like the true Californian that she is hailing from NorCal, Kylie went to school in SoCal and pursued a B.A. in Environmental Analysis at Pomona College. She currently works at a tech consulting firm as a Management Consulting and is building specialties in Change Management and Project Management. Outside of work, you could find Kylie training for her first half marathon, lifting, hiking, planning out her next weekender trip, or chasing down tickets for upcoming concerts! As someone with a long-time passion for community service and social justice, Kylie is beyond excited to get back into the world of volunteerism and philanthropy as a new joiner at PbP!


TEAM & LEADERSHIP

The Team & Leadership team serves as the Human Resources division of Project by Project. The team focuses on enriching the Project by Project experience for our Steering Committee members by both organizing team building events and instituting leadership development programs.

 
 
  • Back for his second year at PbP, Mark couldn’t be more excited to join the T&L Team as the Manager of Leadership Development. Originally from Honolulu, Hawai’i, he moved to the Bay Area 12 years ago and has lived here ever since. Some of his favorite local AAPI nonprofits in the Bay Area include previous PbP beneficiary partners KSW (Kearny Street Workshop) and the OACC (Oakland Asian Culture Center), as well as others like CAAM (Center for Asian American Media) and of course, PbP.

    Find him outside of PbP walking his way around San Francisco, cooking foods that remind him of home, volunteering/lurking at local writing and arts events, and singing along poorly at a concert!

  • Calvin is originally from the Bay Area, but has moved around from SoCal to Seattle before finally moving to San Francisco the beginning of 2022. His day job is working in university recruiting and programs in tech.

    Outside of work, you can find him aspiring to be a Soundcloud DJ, digging for music, strength training, and out and about exploring San Francisco. He's always happy to chat about anything from social justice, AAPI issues, restaurants, Spotify playlists, and the best type of mangoes.

  • Kevin joins PbP in 2024 as Manager of Alumni Relations to engage the alumni network and support PbP's mission of community empowerment. He is a recent transplant from LA and have lived in Boston since graduating from UCLA, before settling in the Bay. A scientific researcher by training, Kevin is currently working as a consultant for the life science industry, focusing on driving innovation through technology adoption and operational excellence. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys traveling and exploring the outdoors with his dog, Milo.

  • Hannah is a dedicated advocate for community engagement and mentorship, with a passion for empowering others to reach their full potential. Serving as the Co-host and Creative Strategist at Bay Area Rising, she facilitates Asian American-led listening parties and conducts interviews with musicians and artists across the Bay Area. Additionally, she serves as an Industry Partner at Fung Fellowship, mentoring UC Berkeley students and guiding the development of digital health prototypes for the UCSF Health Digital Health team. With a background in nursing and education, Hannah has also led initiatives such as the UCSF Staff Engagement Task Force and served as a Pediatric Oncology Nurse at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. Through her various roles, she strives to make a positive impact on individuals and communities, fostering growth, resilience, and innovation.

  • Hello! My name is Kendra and I'm a process engineer at a biotech company in SSF. Outside of work, I love exploring pockets of SF especially new food spots and cozy coffee shops as I just moved to the city a couple of months ago. My current obsessions range from ranking spots on Beli, designing spotify playlists, playing the ukulele, and mental health walks around the city.
